Biometric Privacy Policy

Some Shop With Me ("SWM") kiosks include an optional facial recognition feature that helps Remi tell returning customers apart from new visitors. This page describes how that works and your rights.

What data we collect

When facial recognition is enabled at a store AND the individual has provided opt-in consent, we generate a numerical embedding (a vector) from a camera image at the kiosk. We do not store the original photo.

Why we collect it

To recognize returning customers so Remi can offer a warmer, more personal greeting (e.g., "Welcome back!"). It is never used for surveillance, law enforcement, or sold to third parties.

Opt-in and opt-out

Facial recognition is off by default. Where enabled, the kiosk will explicitly ask for consent the first time you interact with it. You can opt out at any time — either at the kiosk itself or by emailing privacy@shopwithmeus.com.

Retention

Biometric embeddings are retained for 90 days after your last interaction with a kiosk at a particular store, and are then permanently deleted.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your biometric data at any time. If you are a resident of Illinois (BIPA), Texas, Washington, or another state with biometric-specific laws, the rights afforded by those laws apply.

No third-party sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise disclose biometric identifiers to third parties without your express consent, except as required by court order.
